About the authors

Dr. Andy Holt obtained a B.Sc. (Hons) in pharmacology from the University of Dundee in 1989, and M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in pharmacology from the University of Cambridge in 1990 and 1993, respectively. After five years of postdoctoral research at the University of Alberta, he spent a further five years working in the biopharmaceutical industry, latterly as Head of Drug Discovery at ALviva Biopharmaceuticals Inc., before returning to the University of Alberta as a faculty member in 2003. He has taught principles of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics to students in the pharmacology B.Sc. program, and in the M.D., D.D.S., B.Pharm. and R.N. programs at the University of Alberta for more than 20 years. In 2018 he was awarded the prestigious Rang Prize by the British Pharmacological Society for excellence in the teaching of pharmacokinetics. Dr. Holt is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Alberta.

Marcel Romanik graduated in 2000 with a B.Sc. (Pharm) from the University of Alberta, Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. He is currently working for Alberta Health Services, Provincial Pharmacy Services as a Clinical Practice Leader (North). His clinical practice is with inpatient pediatric oncology at the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
